About Me

Hi ! I'm Edmond J. O'Neill. My friends call me Skip.  Just  don't call me "late for dinner." I'm 69 years old, married to my only wife Anna Marie for 44 years. We have 1 adult son who is married on his own, and 3 cats. I recently did my DNA testing, and they confirmed that I am roughly of Irish and Italian descent, and 7% from those Central Asian countries that end in      "-stan", and 2% European Jew, and about 5% "Other." Didn't see that coming.

Let's cut to the chase.  I guess my formal education is a good place to start. In my formative years I grew up in South Philadelphia"s Italian neighborhood.  We later made our way to Northeast Philly where I attended both Catholic Elementary and High School.  At Father Judge High School I graduated at the top of my class ; bullies tossed me off the roof (Just kidding). From there I worked for a year before matriculating to Temple University, majoring in Anthropology (and Beer), graduating in 1971. Despite Anthropology  being where the jobs gravitated toward a relatively secure career as a faceless bureaucrat in PA State Government. in the same year. In 1973 we married. IBetween 1979 and 1984 I earned a MA degree in Modern European History from Villanova University.  In 1991 I transitioned to a different level of bureaucracy at the USDA, FNS until 2000.  I bounced around somewhat before returning in 2006 to my "1st love," PA State Government, only taking a sabbatical in 2008 to have a couple of brain surgeries.  I said  Arrividerci to meaningful activity  in 2009 having retired. My motto has always been "a day's work never killed anyone, but why take the chance.

Some of my hobbies and interests include naps, pizza, and Guinness (having built my own Guinness kegerator). I read extensively, and also collect Zippo lighters, and old radios from the '20s, 30s, and '40s. I am huge Philadelphia  Eagles and Villanova University Basketball fan.

We were fortunate to have traveled widely. By "widely" I am referring to my ample girth. Oh, and I have what may charitably be described as an eclectic sense of humor.

That about sums up the live well lived in a sort of unwell sort of way.
